Description
Guitar Station is owned by a pair of left handed guitar nerds who between them have a truly remarkable guitar collection.
With some big, expensive changes in the pipeline at Guitar Station, the fellas have nominated a few guitars from the epic lefty collection to put up for sale.
Built by Maton Custom Shop luthier Andy Allen in 2014.
When Maton came out with the Heritage series, I thought they looked great but I wished the tone was something more akin to vintage CW80s from to late '70s and early '80s, so I put in an order for Andy to build one for me...We picked out the timber together at the factory and he did an excellent job building this instrument, it has a beautiful bottom-end to it, a warm woody mid-range and a smooth and airy character in the treble.
Overall, it sounds bigger and warmer than any off-the-rack Maton you're likely to play.
Very high grade Spruce for the top, premium grade Sapele for the neck and an superb Mahogany neck and Rosewood fingerborad. Little details like the Maple layer to give a bound effect on the headstock look really classy.
Fitted with an AP5-PRO pickup system and comes with the new SKB hardcase in the photos.
Overall condition is really good, slight bit of wear on the frets, one barely noticeable nick on the face and a few light marks on the back of the neck if you check closely.
It is set up low and fast with 12-53 strings.
How to tell if Andy built it? If you take off the strings, reach into the guitar and use a mirror (or your phone in selfie mode) you can see two aces drawn on the inside of the top, along with Andy's signature. He did an amazing job with this guitar...Great builder and a great bloke.
