Guitar Station is owned by a pair of left handed guitar nerds who between them have a truly remarkable guitar collection.
With some huge developments to be announced throughout 2025, Guitar Station has some big changes (and therefore big investments!) in the pipeline so as part of the journey, the fellas have nominated a few guitars from the epic lefty collection to put up for sale.
According to Henry, this is easily the best '61 Reissue SG he ever played, that's why he bought it! Nine years selling millions of dollars worth of Gibson as manager of Sky Music, plus the three years Guitar Station was a Gibson dealer...It's safe to say he's seen more than a few SG guitars over the journey.
What makes this one so special? It's the timber, it absolutely has a gorgeous musicality to it as well as the vintage 'woody' tone that old Sgs exhibi...And it looks exceptional too - Just look at the grain and you'll see what we mean. When Gibson was reviving its image in 2019 after its mid-2018 Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection saga, the company was ensuring every guitar was built using exceptional material...Once the COVID-19 pandemic guitar boom kicked in mid-2021, Gibson rubbed its hands together and figured it didn't need to use great timber on a lot of production-line guitars any more because guitars were selling before they were even built.
Don't believe us? Just go look at photos of any 2022/23/24 '61 SGs, the grain of the bodies is comparable to Epiphone SGs, whereas this particular one we're selling is more comparable to the grain you see on Gibson Custom Shop VOS historic reissues and also high quality vintage instruments.
Condition is excellent overall, tiny bit of dulling to the chrome hardware and very slight wear in the nitro finish where an arm goes. We think a new buyer would definitely consider buying this one.
